what is out there.

I have been putting some old Videos onto DVD (all legal) and just found out that the old laptop has problems with Windows 7 and the graphics card when trying to play DVDs.

it plays fine with VLC but not windows media player. also the built in DVD editing software will not work.

not urgent as the other PCs at home should be fine but....

For basic editing I use ConvertXtoDVD which is simple to use and intuitive.

You may also want to check/ update the drivers of your graphics card

I've been using Corel's VideoStudio Pro X3 recently and really like it. It's nice to use and got more stuff and formats than you can shake a stick at and has a downloadable trial. Shop around and I'm sure you'd shave £20 off RRP. Open source windows alternatives for 7 is a bit more awkward at this point. And bear in mind 7 is still in it's infancy.

    i use pinnacle studio 11.
basically converts anything to anything! quite power hungry though.
make sure you have a big harddrive and lots of memory!
