Has anyone had the chance to use these yet? Reputed to be good quality and a very good price, but any views on fit, comfort over longer distances? Apparently they are a bit shorter in the leg - too short perhaps?

Not gone for a long distance but so are they're very light and thin and the insert isn't bad for 30 quid. Not too short in the legs for me anyway ....

I have some but only ridden indoors so far.

They are a little shorter but really not much. In fact I wouldnt really notice the shorter length if it wasnt talked about. The material is very very silky soft and feels very comfortable - more silky and soft than my other lycra shorts. The pad isnt the thickest foam ever but feels OK so far and is shaped OK for me - I guess thats an individual thing. Its no Assos pad but not bad and for the price they seem really good value. The bib part is comfortable enough.

As I said, I havent ridden on them in anger yet but expect to get plenty of use out of them in the warmer weather. Even if they only get used for rides <50 miles they'll be a steal.

  • I suspect they are not cut for tall skinnies like me. The large size is perfect for my 34" waist and by no means pervertedly short on the leg, but the braces cause me a total wedgie when I sit up/stand up to my 6'2" height. I'm going to modify the braces if I can get hold of my mum's sewing machine. The pad is excellent for my preference, i.e soft and thin.

I have the medium and they suit me perfectly - 6'0 with a 33" leg and 31" waist. No wedgies here

  • Perhaps you're not such a big pickle after all! My privates are flattened up against my stomach wearing these shorts, it's positively indecent.

They have a dupont coolmax pad...
So do my Lidl overtrousers. They were £8.

I'd say you get what you pay for and £29 is fine for a sub 20 mile pair of bibs. I'd use them for commuting, but would get their more expensive pair for longer rides.
  • I did 60m in them on Friday and the pad tself was flawless.

I think it depends on what saddle you match it with, I run a toupe gel.

I've just ordered a pair, so I hope they are OK........

Like most shorts, it really depends on the pad and how they fit you.

Bibs are certainly more comfortable than waist shorts, especially on a long ride, so we'll see what happens.

I'm doing a century in June and hoping they'll be comfortable enough for that.

I'm doing a hundred in June also. Not sure I can risk the Shutts on this feedback, but it's a little early in the season yet.

today was the first shorts day of the year for me, so I tried these...

I did a 20 miler and found them just fine, despite being on a new (<100 mile) Brooks saddle!

The pad is quite thin but does the job pretty well. The fabric is very light and soft feeling and they are really comfortable. The legs grip well and stay put and there was no issue with them being slightly shorter than most bib shorts.

If you need a mega thick pad then these might not be for you but as a comfy, good value set of bibs I rate them. They will be getting a lot of use from me this year for sure, despite having some Assos as well.

Mine arrived today and they seem very comfortable.

Strangely, my Brook saddle will arrive in the next few days!

Anyone got a picture of the pad? My old Orbea ones are coming apart btu I really like that the pad comes up high at the front so I can hide my junk when I ride to work.

no pic, but the pad does come up a bit higher at the front, as I noticed it on the first ride.

I did a very hilly 35 miler over the Quantocks today as my 2nd proper ride in them, and they were amazingly comfortable. I didnt find myself noticing the saddle at any stage of the ride. Surprising given the slightly thinner pad. Seems to suit me and the Brooks very well.

  • I've had a pair of these for a few weeks and they've been great. Did 80 odd miles in them on Easter Sunday with no problems at all. I'll probably be getting another pair.
