I currently have a Marin Bolinas Ridge and had nothing but bother with the V Brakes, therefore looking to upgrade them to Disc Brakes as that's what one of the benefits is with the bike the ability to upgrade.
However as I only use the bike to go out with my son and husband in the summer months don't want anything amazing and happy to buy second hand, however I am overweight so will want some that will actually stop me! any recommendations??

First off:
Is your bike disc ready? Ie disc hubs, mounts on the forks and frame, and seperate gear and brake levers?
Though what was the problem with the Vs? They sounds ideal! ANd as powerful as many hydros in the dry.0 -
Hi yes the the bike is disc ready and that was one of the reasons for buying it, and had numerous problems with stopping with the V's tried different pads etc but sick of them and probably part of me feels that i would actually like disc's so swaying more that way, but don't want to go mad on price.0

Sounds like you got a bed set of Vs lol.
Anyway, have a look at the Avid Elixir 5 at Merlin cycles.0
