I bought one of these so I could use the GPS on my phone rather than buy a Garmin.

It is huge- if anything, the stem on my Giant is too long! Not sure what I think- haven't used the iPhone apps yet, if it is less that perfect I can see it going on ebay!

A netbook would take up less space on the bars
    More problems but still living....

I have mine (not the same mount) on the stem and it is very inconspicuous and use cyclemeter and found it works a treat for speed and route tracking and logging.

I was thinking of getting one of these (for MotionX GPS). That does look enormous though. Keep us posted on how it goes. Does it include room for a dock connector, so you could keep it plugged in to a secondary battery pack?

I think so, there is space at the bottom and I think Dahon are working on a dynamo charger.....

I have motion x too but not used it on the bike yet only cyclemeter, the mount i have is this one

but the actual part the phone goes into is this one

http://www.gpsforless.co.uk/product_det ... p?id=16087 no idea how i got the bar mount and the phone mount together, it held it without any movement of the phone in the holder, obviously this is a fair weather only mount.

That's the thing, I'm looking for something weather proof. I was thinking of using a "hardshell" iPhone case and modifying it so it could be zip-tied to the stem, but I haven't found an appropriate one, and anyway this Dahon case looks about perfect - apart from the size. For my previous phone (Nokia N95) I used the top part of a mount, similar to yours, zip-tied to the stem with a rubber bumper, which fitted neatly and worked well.
