Bit late on this, but, R.I.P. Harry.

He was a very likeable man and was the consummate professional commentator. Always able to come up with pertinent comment and was not affraid to remain silent and let the action "talk for itself", unlike most of these numpties (on ITV in particular) who are terrified of doing such a thing and fill the air with inane babble just for the sake of it.

Must say though my unforgettable Harry Carpenter moment was when he was commentating on Tyson v Bruno when Tyson seemed invincible,and, by HC's own admission he lost his usual professional decorum when Bruno rocked Tyson and he came out with the excited line.

"Bruno's hurt him, get in there Frank" absolute class. A real "they think it's all over, it is now". moment.
