has anyone come across and great deals they'd like to share?
budget is around £500-600 but as always it could stretch for the right set.

I 'm beginning to feel like a stuck record, but how about Gigantex from Derek at wheelsmiths?
Not sure of total cost, depends how you spec them up...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -

Well, Fuerte Bici 50mm carbon clinchers are £449 but would like some feedback from anyone who's tried them?

Wheelsmiths only seem to sell 50mm tubs but maybe I've missed something?0 -

Fuerte bici's look really nice - i called the bloke up and he didn't seem to know much about the wheel specifics but was quite helpful, i've since heard that they have little or no stock leading to delays in getting the wheels you order.
I was thinking the same about wheelsmith with regards to clinchers. :?0 -
When you see something a lot cheaper than the rest of the field you automatically assume a catch - stock availability, fragility, etc. Sure are temping though.
Some of these cycle mags should get their arses in gear and get some for a road test.0 -
Those Fuerte bici's are v nice and a good price, anyone know what rims they're using?0

I have a feeling they're Gigantex.
I think Markos1963 is running some, but they'll be tubs...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Probably Gigantex - the same as used by Planet-X, Wheelsmith and many othersMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Cheers mcrdave, unfortunately i'd rather take a rusty spoon to my genitals than give ribble cycles my business - they do look like they'd fit the bill right enough!0 -

Got mine from Wheelsmith in the end, the Fuerte ones looked vfm but I didn't want to wait for delivery. No problems running tubs though, so far so good.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

Hi
Just thought i'd jump on and let you know why you have to wait for Fuerte Bici wheels.
There are three main reasons:
1) We offer 120 different combinations (hub type, colour choices etc), so to hold only 1 pair of every combo would mean having 120 pairs in stock
2) the ones we have had in stock have sold so quickly, we basically haven't been able to keep up with supply.
3) The factory who supplies us (and Reynolds) haven't been able to keep up either, so we have to quote 4 weeks lead time.
The factory is expanding and will be at larger premises in June, so the lead times will come down.
I realise that everyone wants to have stuff the day after you order - but all of our customers, have said they are well worth the wait. We offer your money back if you're not happy with your purchase (if you return them unused).
We're trying to provide what people want, at a good price, directly from the manufacturers.
Regards
Ben Nicholson

Hi Ben
what is the lead time for a pair of 50mm clinchers with red nipples and hub?
Mmmmm nice"You must return here with a shrubbery, or else, you will never pass through this wood... alive."0 -
Hi - 4/5 weeks at the moment - we've ordered in some 50s and 60s as they are proving to be the most popular..
Not ideal I know - but it will get better..0
