Washing new kit...First!

Last year I bought some Assos 3/4 bibs, but it was too cold to wear them at the time.
Last Thursday the Sun came out, and I couldn't wait to get out on the bike.
Unfortunately, I hadn't yet washed the bib 3/4's, but thought they'd be ok...
WRONG!
There must have been something in the insert  After the ride, I had half a dozen 'blind' spots on my undercarriage  Talk about sore...
Just getting cleared, now.
I always wash anything that's designed to be worn next to the skin, before use. But, because it was a nice day, I took a chance.
Always wash your kit first
:itch: :itch:
Being Assos, they were at least quality spots...

You're supposed to take the labels out."There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world, t'would be a pity to damage yours."0

Wasn't labels, mate.
After the ride it felt more like ground fibre glass had been scattered along the edge of the insert!Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -

Do you normally just buy and wear, straight out of the bag/box then, Red?Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0

Maybe that's it, then... I use Assos chsamoix cream
You still can't know that a new item of clothing is not contaminated in some way...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -

When did you last wash?Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

I don't buy anything like Assos quality, most of my kit comes from Decathlon and I've always worn it straight from the packet without cream or washing etc and I've never had any problem. Perhaps you've got sensitive skin. I have read that manufacturers put chemicals into clothing - persticides and herbicides to prevent them getting eaten by moths or going mouldy etc if they're held in storage for a long time, perhaps it's these chemicals which are affecting you. I know a guy at work who always washes work shirts before wearing them as he gets a rash all over if he doesn't....Do not write below this line. Office use only.0

It's not just cycling gear... I normally wash any clothing that may come into direct contact with my skin.
Like buying crockery and not washing it before use. :shock:Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
I usually wear straight from the packet, never any probs. Don't use cream either for where cream should go.0

I always wash clothes first.
Just do.
