Forecast up our way is diabolical and I so need miles in my legs.

So what's the best alternative - either as a training replacement or an alternative pastime to cycling in the rain altogether.

And we're not talking rain we're talking deluge.

+1 Go out and ride anyway. Just empty your shoes occasionally.

Spot of rain didn't stop Nicole Cooke in Beijing

It's flat as flatness itself in Cheshire. Soon as they get out of their county they say 'what the hell is that?!' as they see some slopes :)

Going slightly off piste, last weekend was lovely and warm (well, a tropical 11 deg) so I went off for a spin in Wiltshire. So, sun was out but big fat puddles (and squashed frogs) everywhere which made me think of shorts and overshoes (to keep my feet dry)...but it just seemed so wrong (sandals and socks anyone?).

In the end I manned it out with the shorts alone but I did think of the overshoes halfway around when I wanted to stop and empty my shoes out. Am I right in that this is a fashion no-no?

You can wear overshoes whenever you like... TTer's do

I wear them to protect my white shoes, when the roads look damp!

    Back to topic...
The little rain we had today, which only arrived after my 2 hour spin in the dry, is already on it's way oop North
Sunday should be another nice day, here in Norfolk. 8)

The weather is now irrelevant, at least for me.

Football training session yesterday, all the usual stepping over cones and changing direction. Didn't even get out of breath, just standing there at the end and - POP - calf muscle went.

Can't even walk let alone bike.

I'd do anything for a rain soaked Sunday now - serves me bloody right for being a wimp.

Yeah, I've heard you struggle to keep a rear wheel.

I've done 20 miles into a head-wind today and I've totally puggled myself. A night with elevated legs and some rehydration ahead for me.

4cast cloudy here, some....Sun! Gonna do a quiet cycle track/lanes ride on the Llyn Peninsular.
Did the same last week, but 30k headwind was tuff going out. Nice back, tho.

Buy a Swiss ball, Step or Bosu. All good for Core, strength endurance training.

Better still, buy a Total Gym. Chuck - Kick Arse - Norris can't be wrong...can he?

Sunny intervals here but gusting to 45mph+. Wasn't much fun today in the wind.
I've ordered a curry, a few bottles of Cumberland and I'll get up to watch the F1 instead.

    Gorgeous here, today.
Got up, watched the F1, then swanned out for a good 55 sunny miles.
Outward ride was windy, though
At about 22 miles our group split, with the faster young bucks opening up there legs a bit. I was sitting near the back eating at the time, but wanted to go with them. So, quickly finished my snack bar, moved out and dug in. As I rounded a bend (route unknown to me) I went staright into the headwind and a long, arduous climb! I was in 'no mans land' for ages, thought I was going to die, but I couldn't ease up and go back to the protection of the group I'd just left. I did eventually make it.
Just waiting for my bath to fill.... What bliss....
Maybe a light spin in tomorrows Sunshine

Up Bolton way it's lovely. Bright, warm sunshine with an annoying strong wind which seems to be in front of me all the time. Forecasters got it wrong again for around here ot seems; brace yourself for Tuesday though, snow in the north of England and Scotland.

Better get my sun cream then :D
