CAAD9 Pimping

Dear fellow tarts, I need your help!

I bought a CAAD9 and need to know what to bling it up with. It's the white one with Ultegra. Just like this one, except I'll be sticking my Ksyrium SLs on: cannondale-caad-9-ultegra-compact-2010-road-bike.jpg

I'm thinking 105 pedals because I already have a pair, but might get Ultegra to match if a decent price can be found.

What I need you to choose is:
1.Bar tape. Type and colour. 2. Bottle cages (and new matching bottles). 3. Possible new saddle if I don't like the Fizik one that comes with it. Don't want another Charge Spoon. 4. New Tyres. 5. Coloured Hudz? What colour?
Anything I'm missing? I'll need to get another cadence censor for the Garmin. Except from that I can't think of anything else.

Happy pimping. :)

  • Surely the saddle has to be an white Arione, blue stripe and green lettering. Doesn't matter if you find it comfortable or not...
  • And you'll need most of this too...

I agree with the saddle suggestion from greasedscotsman, possible Liquigas. If you don't like the Arione ( I can't get on with them...), then the Specialized BG Toupe Team, in white.
For the bars, there is only Fizik MicroTex (in white).
GP 4000 tyres in 'metallic blue'
or Michelin Pro 3 Race in blue

    +1

I have a Toupe in black on my CAAD9 - but wish I'd bought a white one especially as I like white bar tape (spesh bar phat is my fave)

Get rid of the 'Premium' decal on the forks... it's look anything but!

The rest looks superb, and +1 for liquigas saddle, white bar tape and blue PR3s.

Blue bar tape and blue fizik seat with green strip.

Or white seat green strip and blue or green bar tape.

    Or

White stem and handle bar. Green or blue bar tape. White and green strip saddle or blue and green strip saddle.

    Ultegra peddals.

I was thinking that, but I dared not say it.

But Will, I thought you liked the Liquigas version?

I don't recall saying that, maybe I've my mind has changed, but I think the paint job in the OP looks disgusting. On a bright day my eyes would hurt

That's the idea, if it makes your eyes hurt, think what it's going to do to your competitors in a race. Tactical advantage! :D
  • Good bike!

Nothing wrong with that at all, id have white fizik tape, its quite thin though i use 2 layers.

Have you been able to customise the bike so far or are you having to buy it as stock and then swap/flog the bits you don't want?

Considering same bike (don't like the black/black) with Open-Pave Evo CGs or Veloflex Pave in skinwall/blue, a white Toupe or white/blue Arione, white or blue tape and a pair of white Elite or Zipp cages.

The Arione seems like it shall be getting purchased then! :) Probably the blue/green one, as I'm bound to end up riding it with jeans on at one point. :? Unless there is some way of getting the white one back to such a brilliant white. Jif, or Cif, or whatever they call it these days?

Those cable housings look pretty good, Pastey! Blue might not look too back either. Oh ... white?

They wont be stickers surely!

Think this is a winner so far.

Is the Fizik tape really as thin as BlackPanther says? I don't really like big thick bars, but I don't want it too think either. Is it thinner than Lizard Skins tape? I've been using that for a while now and quite like it. Not too fat, but still have a wee bit of softness. :)

Lagavulin, Aye, I'm having to buy it and then swap parts over. The only thing I'd possibly sell would be the saddle, as I'd keep the tyres in case of an emergency, and the black tape would be in the bin as soon as the new tape goes on.

I have a set of the Open Pavés on my winter bike. They're pretty nice, although I think they have changed them now so that the green is on the inside and back is on the shoulders. Doesn't look so good now. :?

White cages could be a go, but I find it hard to find any nice cages that don't cost an absolute bomb!

Sounds like a ninja bike, NapD! :D I just don't get the black frame though. Maybe if the writing was solid white instead of just an outline ... maybe. But for now it just looks a bit cheap.

So, when you planning on starting your next build? :P I think right away would be a good idea.

Unfortunately the black frame with red writing is from the US, and we only get the Liquigas or BBQ paint jobs. Although, that photo has me thinking a nice set of white deep section rips would be pretty cool. Never seen white ones though. :?

Too much white. It'll look so dirty after the 1st ride, you'll be forever cleaning the thing. Shoulda bought a black bike.

I thought as much. Pity but guess I'd have to do the same.
First thing to go would be the Racing 7s. I have a set of the red anodised R7s and they've been nothing but bother.

The more I think about it the more I'm tempted to get this rather nice - red albeit with 105 and an alu steerer, ride it on iffy days and through the winter, and then maybe deck it out with Campag or SRAM Red and a set of (ideally white) Cosmic Carbone SLs for next Spring/Summer.cannondale-caad-9-105-compact-2010-road-bike.jpg
