I drink cider. strongbow in the pub and the same or Olde English at home. Its going up by 38-42p/pint in a pub  :( . Thats ooop north too.

Not overly bad at home, around 36p a 2/3 ltr bottle or 4 pint cans.

I know the scurge drink cider or at least the white stain remover version but why not just put that type up by a vast vast and lastly vast amount?

Glad I only manage a night out once amonth (ok maybe a couple more). Its going to really upset me handing that sort of cash over.

Heres to a more sober, less wasted mornings and healthier life. Doesn't sound too bad when I put it like that. Cheers.

I saw the highlights of the budget today on the BBC news website and the increase in duty on cider came as quite a surprise!

This is not a real budget though, it's a wee bit of tinkering.

The real budget comes in a year's time when the new government is in place :(

Because cider's been dramatically undertaxed in the past due to a loophole. This simply brings it back into line with beer and wine.

There's bound to be some rioting where I live as 90% of the hoodies drinks white lightening (which I don/t even count as 'proper' cider...... ;) )

I made an error. Stupid alarmist bells ringing in my head  .

I got carried away and should have known better. I ran pubs for 12 years, owned 1 for 3.

Its only duty so in reality its only going up by around 10p, maybe the landlords will put another few pence on. Unsure what The current duty is but its gotta be around 80p/pint.

Head held in shame at school boy error.

On a plus side the small brewers are sort of except from duty. Will look for a Northumberland cider maker. think I may draw a blank on that. Going to plant an apple pip and see where that leads me.

Magners, the new 4.5% stuff, is a whopping £3.28 a pint already in my local.

They won't riot, they'll just steal the bottles of cider instead

Does this increase apply to cider-vinegar?
Have you seen the price of the Taste the Difference range already?
