To a Tom Jones concert?!

I'm off to see him tonight in HK but here's the dilemma:

I'm too old for band T shirts (and so's he)
I don't own a pair of jeans or any leather trousers
A jacket is too smart
It'll be too cold in the venue for shorts, what with the aircon
Nude is out - I'm going with the wife...

That basically leaves work clothes (slacks, shirt, tie) or cycling kit!

  • To a Tom Jones Concert.....one should wear a mask in case one is spotted by friends...

Only joking, my mate went to see him in Bangkok earlier this week, says it was good, but.......wait for it..........it was not unusual.

    I'll get my coat!

Slacks, shirt and a cravat/throat scarf, knotted jauntily and a pair of cuban heels. :D

Let us know how it went !!!

I went to see him at the NEC in about 2001, he was fantastic (if a little cheesy !!). It'll be interesting to hear how he managed his trademark thrusting, bumping and grinding. 9 years ago he was having problems getting up off the floor, so unless he's now got bionic hips, it should be amusing :D

I believe it's traditional to wear woman's knickers to a Tom Jones concert, so that you can throw them at the stage at some point.

You might want to consider taking a second pair for any encores, or the way home.

I suspect someone of his age would have had a double hip replacement by now.

to avoid arrest, I'd suggest two pairs of knickers, women's over mens, if you see what I mean!

It went very well! He wisely didn't attempt anything too acrobatic but did pogo a bit. Not bad considering he's 70 in June. By God, the old pipes are still working though. No bottling out of the high notes, every one nailed. Ran through all the favourites, of course, and about half of the 24 Hours album, which was well-received. Finished with "It's not Unusual" but did a more funky/pop encore with some newer stuff. Audience was distinctly middle-aged but then this is Hong Kong, and what do sulky-faced, spotty teenagers know anyway? They listen to any sh!te that Simon Cowell and the Disney Channel put out.

By the way, I went with the frilly shirt and no knickers. :)

Possibly too much information, but did you come home with them as well?
