Selle Italia - wearing out my shorts

For the last six months my cycle shorts have been wearing very heavily on one side (inner groin) - now I sort of put this down to the way "things were hanging" but after a 6 hour ride on Sunday I noticed that on one side I had almost worn through a lovely pair of roubaix tights that were brand new !
really p155ed of about this and closer inspection suggests its caused bythe engraved position markers on the rails (which are only on the same size as the wear!)
