I think that people should be made aware that if they pay for items as a gift to avoid paypal costs, then they have no chance of getting their money back if it goes sour.
On a different forum I use, a few people have recently been stung by sellers asking for "gift" payments then not sending the item for sale. (one guy has just lost £200).
The buyer has no comeback as paypal offers no protection for gift payments and the seller will always say "it has been lost in the post"... the seller is under no obligation to refund the money.
This "scam" seems to be doing the rounds at the mo, so it would be nice to let people know!

Yes, I have being thinking about this.
But what rights do you have with 2nd hand goods anyway? Do paypal protect against non ebay purchases?0 -
but would not a pay pal user know what the gift terms and conditions are?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
