Just bought A Practicaly new 2009 Spesh fsr expert and it has captain sport tyres on it, are they any good or is it worth me taking them off first as last and putting on what i'm used to using.

You might as well use them to start with - what harm? Besides I think they are excellent - certainly work well in well drained places like Afan.
Tyres are a VERY personal thing of course and ultimately if you lack confidence in them you'll think they are crap regardless. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
i have spesh captain 2.2, they are very good tyres, but i'm not sure if the OE ones are the same as the aftermaket ones- mine are dual compound- 60/70a0

They're pretty good, roll well on everything apart from really sticky mud, but go through sloppy stuff ok. They're wire bead they're a bit heavy but don't really notice it.
Mine seems to be fitted with the armadillo version and I've never managed to puncture them even on really thorny stuff.
If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for the bike? I'm probably getting rid of mine next month, moving house forcing sale!Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.
Who are you calling inbred?0 -
I use the Capitan controls (2.2 f/2.0 r) on my Stumpy HT in the drier months and I've not wanted for anything else up to this point.0
