Aldi are stockinng some ''low fat tea brack'' which is 0.3 %fat , mostly made of fruit with flour.
i expected it to be in some way horrid, but it is actually very good. Great for high carb snacking. Watch out for the effect of a huge quantity of drieed fruit in yourr tum..
i'll be carrying this instead of or as well as higher fat biscuits//flapjack etc. which usually are 20%fat, meaning 40% of the calories..

Why worry? If you've "earned" it, just go for a lomtick slice of Yorkshire Tea Marmalade
    cake.
( Lomtick, taken from Clockwork Orange...)
  • I counter the fat free content of it by smearing a generous coating of best butter onto it. It's then just simply gorgeous :D

Plus for on the bike I make my own fat free fruit cake with oats, dried fruit, flour, ovaltine, skimmed milk, syrup and demera sugar.

    recipe please

my only problem with the brack is the high dose of fruit effect in large quantity

and as for having lots of fat as a reward, well i already have eaten my treats. now I have to pay in cycling miles and that will need some calories to keep the muscles going, but not too many.

  • Sorry forgot all about this here's the recipe

    3oz SR flour
    3oz Porridge oats
    2 Tble spns ovaltine powder
    1 oz light brown sugar
    2 Tble spns syrup
    1/4 pt semi skimmed milk
A good mixture of whatever dried fruits and nuts that you want.

no messing about with this just mix the whole lot together. put it in a greased or non stick loaf tin and bake in a pre heated oven 160-180 c for roughly 40-50 mins

Obviously the fresher you eat it then the moister it is. It will freeze but it does tend to dry a little bit somewhat.
