Looking on the Planet X website and I now see they are selling a Camapg freehub body.
Anyone know if they fit the hubs of the carbon wheel sets which use the Planet X superlight hubs. The wheel only come with a Shimano compatible hub at present.
Also anyone rate these wheels?
Seem very cheap at around half the cost of Fast forward and Corima.Even Fast forward at trade is still big bucks.
I only want some for the odd ride out as I think they look pretty good.

Pro Carbon 50s on a very nice Campag-equipped Mortirolo.
Email/phone Planet X or pm A_N_T and see how he did it.0 -

I've emailed Planet X and they are out of stock of Campag freehub bodies.
They also use different hubs so the freehub body is going to vary.
As I have 3 brand new Campag cassettes in storage I really don't want to have to buy compatible cassettes,
From what I have read they use American classic and Joytech mainly.Joytech freehub bodies I have but not sure who imports American classic into the UK0 -
Well just spoken to Planet X and they cant tell me when they will get freehub bodies in for Camapg and they also cant tell me what brand of hub they are currently using as they vary all the time.
If they vary the hubs all the time how the hell do you know what freehub body to order??
Looks like I'll have to spec a better brand and pay a bit more.0 -

- just to clarify , I dont think is 100% fair , I believe the final conversation was / should save been "exactly which campag groupset are you intending to use and we wanted to order in the campag bodies and we want to make sure it works with the campag groupset your using ".
Campag hub bodies are on order and are circa 3 weeks away .
Weve only ever use american classic originally (until they had a recall issue) and now we use joytech . We still have american classic campag bodies , were out of campag spare bodies , there are very few customers wanting to switch from shimano to campag .
Joytech are one of the best hub manufacturers in Taiwan and produce hubs for the main brands including the likes of Zipp .
Drop me a mail in 3 weeks and we should have campag bodies around then .

I asked which hubs you are currently using and was told you use 3 different hubs manufacturers.I also asked if you could check the hub models of current stock so that if they were Joytech.I was told that they could be made up of several brands so this didn't help or resolve the problem.I could have bought them by now as I sell Joytech hubs and spares at work.
As for the kind of groupset for Campag then is the current models spline I'm using.
Thanks for the direct reply, it shows your company looks cares and reads up on it real world issues.0 -
@daveplanetx
Dave, forgive me but I was advised that your wheels are made by Grammo, is this true?
If so surely Grammo would have Campag free wheels to convert?
I would be interested as I only run Campag and your wheels seem good value.
BTW do your stickers come off as I hate stickers on wheels?0 -
I have a little used Ambrosio conversion cassette 12-25t if you are interested.....0

Wappy. Why not get a pair of Gigantex 50mm Carbon rims built onto THE HUBS OF YOUR CHOICE at www.wheelsmith.co.uk
From what I gather, Gigantex make the Planet X rims anywayExpertly coached by http://www.vitessecyclecoaching.co.uk/

The gigantex rims are relatvely cheap and decent, but not in the same league - in weight, finish or perceived stiffness as more expensive rims i've tried (Boras, Shimano, Zipp, CCUs, etc.)
The P-X builds I have more of an issue with. 16 spoke front with the Micro 58 hub DOES NOT make for a robust set-up IME (I owned a pair for 4 years). And the AM Classic rear is JUNK and made for a wobbleboard rear. Stiff it wasn't. Good to hear this is being changed (due to a recall?) with the Joytech hub. though no guarantees the joytech hubs will be great I suppose ...
Note that the rims are relatively heavy for carbon rims ... the light hubs make up a fair bit of ground. So the all up weight of c.1450g is a bit mis-leading in that respect when compared to (say) Boras or Shimano tubulars.
Bottom line here is you are buying on price and don't fool yourself otherwise. They are aerodynamic reasonably good wheels, but they don't compare well to many more expensive carbon wheelsets.
If I was on a budget again I'd look at Corima which use similar (the same?) rims as Campagnolo at a much lower price.0
