Hi,

At present my focus is only on getting quicker for the sunday group rides, but I have an urge to compete but I have no idea what I want to do!!

So, im trying to get a list of all the sports that have cycling and research them more and try some out and see where I end up.

So far I can find the following cycling sports:

Time Trials
Criteriums
Road Racing
Triathlons
Duathlons

What else is there?

Also, does anyone on here train for one sport, or several, if so why did you choose that sport?

Cyclocross, though tends to be a winter sport. Running involved with that as well

Cyclocross. As much fun and pain in an hour than you can shake a stick at.
  • Cycle Speedway!

    Cycle ball

Possibly one of the most skilful, and at the same time most stupid, things I've seen done on bikes. They're pretty stupid looking bikes as well.

    MTB cross country, downhill, enduro

Track - loads of options for everyone!

Trials (like Kick Start without engines!)
  • Haven't tried it myself, but I've heard of people going MTBing down ski-slopes with snow tires. Looks like a blast!

I did it for an afternoon some years ago. It's very fast, f*cking terrifying, great fun, drift-tastic and falling off is a ball ache as you tend to slide a long way from the bike.

The slopes are also steeper, smoother and longer than you'd usually find on an mtb ride and have considerable less traction than you'd find on a road descent. Breaks don't work particularly well either and the front brake is wipe out waiting to happen. You tend to get sucked into the speed on early runs, before you've worked out how to slow down

All in all, I can highly recommend it :D
