First bike recommendations

Hi all as the summer is getting closer i think it is about time i started looking into ways to shed a few pounds.

Been looking for a second hand bike until i read about the cyclescheme and there is a shop just around the corner which is a part of it. In the middle of trying to get the company i work for on board.

Question is what bike should i go for? I will be buying from www.strawberrycycles.co.uk which does limit it a bit but the guys there are very friendly and its right on my door step if i have any problems.

Looking at spending between £400 and £500 on one.

They are under GIANT off-road sport and TREK Mountain Bikes / HARDTAIL

That is a poor site, its like they don't want to buy online! Found the bikes by clicking a buy online in top right corner but its not too obvious!

I noticed the buy online above that but not the bit in bigger brighter letters just below it :oops:

It is a poor design, should be much clearer!
