Don't want to spend a fortune, was looking at the black and white DHB ones on wiggle, but they have a little too much white in them for my liking, any others that you can recommend?
Assos at al is a little to expensive.

These ones, cant go wrong for the money, zip front, fleece lined, lovely 8)0

I bought Merston ful length tights in the winter as I thought Assos were too pricey - instantly regretted it. Not a good pad IMHO and the cut/seams was poor when actually riding. Luckily my LBS had a sale soon after and I got the Assos at a bargain.
I'd recommend Assos every time for cut, seams, pad etc, despite the higher initial cost. Shop around for the best prices as you can save a good amount.Your Past is Not Your Potential...0 -

If you are a girl (sorry jesse is a pretty ambiguous name) i wouldn't recommend the Assos anyway the mono bib is a bit crap. I bought a pair cos the OH raves about his and yes the pad is comfey - but the bib pops open anytime you sit up. I have to bodge it with bits of string - which is a bit galling given the price.blog: bellevedere0

I did buy a pair of DHB Merston shorts and thought that the overall quality was poor. The pad seems to move, too!LittleB0b wrote:the bib pops open anytime you sit up.
Photo's
Sorry, just couldn't resist.

Have you used 3/4 bibs before? It's just that I rarely use mine, prefer legwarmers or kneewarmers with regular bibs as they're a bit more versatile.
The Assos are good though if you're set on 3/40 -
Gore Xenon here. Fantastic.
Each to his own but I'm not a fan of the Assos fit myself.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -

No worries LittleB0b, I am a fella, Assos have a great name but I am going to use them in early season races and I don't want to wear mega expensive kit in case I crash and rip it.APIII wrote:Have you used 3/4 bibs before? Used them loads, I really get on with them, I was going to also buy some Rapha knee warmers as well to go with my newly aquired Rapha arm warmers - Yes Yes I know I am a pouser 8)Obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated!0 -
I'd agree with APIII that 3/4 bibs aren't the most versatile - you're much better off getting some decent leg/knee warmers to use with your usual bib shorts. They're great for early morning starts when its a bit too chilly for shorts alone, but easy to take off and stuff in your back pocket once it's warmed up a bit.
JE James are selling some Assos knee or leg warmers at a very good price at the moment - I've just ordered some leg warmers (£27 vs £50 at wiggle):

wouldn't recommend the DHB ones myself, I bought 2 pairs my and both started to fall apart! All the other bib shorts I have keep going and going. Other DHB stuff I've had has been ok though.0

i have 2 pairs of the rapha ones, have been brilliant throughout winter0

I agree on the Rapha ones, I too have two pairs and have had them for about three years of winter/spring use and still look and feel good. They have a much better pad than the Rapha bib-shorts, whose pad is pretty mediocre in my opinion and not a patch on Assos S5's.
I prefer 3/4's to shorts and leg-warmers, as the 3/4's are generally Roubaix fabric or the like, and so are warmer around the back and thighs for those fresh days where shorts and tights is just too hot, and great for early morning rides.Complicating matters since 19650 -
I find Santini to be comfy and more affordable than Assos0

I have a couple of pairs of the Spesh BG Pro 3/4 and they seem fine to me, decent pad and cut (I don't actually find the cut as good on my Assos bib shorts although the pad is slightly better).
If you're small or big Leisure Lakes still have them on offer http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/produc ... x?&id=78800 -
If you choose the leg warmer option these are really good and half price at the moment inc posting £14.99 !!!
