well, the current Renfrew Ferry ceases a week on Wednesday. It will be replaced with a small private boat, that may or may not be able to take cycles.

It has been uneconomic and has been subsidised, and that will now end.

I think it is a real shame.... Crossed on it tonight, and will do another few crossing before it ends.

I take it the amphibious bus hasn't decided whether to take on the route.

They tested it, but I don't think it will go into operation... but it does not look like it would be bike friendly.

  • I cross on the ferry most mornings.and some of the guys who take their bikes said 4 contractors where in for the contract. But as you said they will be doing it economical with a small tug to make it cost efficient.

    From The Herald today:
“As well as being DDA compliant, it is also pram, buggy, pushchair and cycle friendly”, Mr Aikman said.
