Hi guys

I think that there is a guy on here who is an expert on the sherwood pines routes:

I have taken the odd ride round the pines for years now, but have never done the red route. I usually get in the pines from the crown farm end and hit the blue route where it crosses the double track at post 7. If I am doing the blue route, I will start and end there. Does the red route pass that end of the pines? Is it well posted? Its odd how I have never come accross it. Someone was saying it runs the opposite way to the blue route, i.e clockwise.

The red route (kitchener trail) does run clockwise but i cant help you with the other bit about the blue route.

If I read correctly you enter the forest under the railway bridge in the western corner of the forest park and turn right at the big blue 7 post. What you need to do is go past the blue route on the fire road and turn left at the small wooden post 50-100 metres further on (on the fire road at the bottom of the bike park area)

That is excellent. I will jump on the route their rather than at the start. Thanks. I see that the route is not numbered like the blue. The numbers are good for motivation and you know how long is left :)

Is it well posted all the way round, I have heard people say that they end up doing 3 or 4 miles then somehow end up back at the visitor centre??

So where is the black route then?

When you get to the visitor centre you need to cross the centre of the car park to the start of the Kitchener trail. The route is marked with the wooden posts which have arrows on them but you will need to keep your eyes peeled. There isn't a black trail as such but there are a few black/slightly grey? features in the bike park area (the orange spot on the map) which is marked on the wrong side of the blue and red trails.

Done the red a few times now. Really enjoyed it. I expected it being slightly tougher?

What is a good lap time for the blue route? I did it in 35 today. I imagine it can be done a fair bit quicker

:( My fastest time is still ten minutes longer than you :( I just don't understand how people can go so fast.
    must get fitter...
Edit, ohhh the blue route not the red, well that sounds about the right sort of time then ;)

If you have done the red in 45, its me who needs to get fitter lol. I have never timed it but I am betting it takes me a lot longer than that
