alright guys...fairly new to cycling, done a couple of sportives and aiming to do a few 10 mile time trials later this year and also a 30 m tt
got some easton ea90 wheels on my bike and wondering whether its worth getting a pair of more aerodynamic wheels that would suit the tts but also 'flattish' sportives?
if so what do you advise. I cans ee Zipp are highly rated but not sure I want to pay well over £1k...what are the other options? anyone used HED wheels?
cheers
ps apologies if this sort of thing has been covered before which I suspect it has!!

Loads of posts on this but if you don't want to spend a grand or more then try here
http://www.wheelsmith.co.uk/index.htm for some decent aero wheels. Personally I would do a few TT's first before deciding to spend much on it. In fact before buying some wheels try some TT bars first, they will probably save you more time in the long run.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

markos thanks for that...quite like the thought of some handbuilt ones but lots of choice so will have to do some research!!0

If you can, get some Zipp 404's. They are very aero, can be used to train and race on and light.
Together with some good tyres they will save about 30 watts which adds up to a lot of time in a TT.0 -
Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL work for me not light but very aero and (touch wood) bomb proof0
-
Zipp 404 special editions for exactly 1000 of your pounds. They just don't have the golf ball dimples.
Can't see you doing better than them really. Plus you'll always sell em on if you ever want to.

Whats the cheapest for a new set of 404 tub ones anyone's seen then?? ...before I order ultralight gigantex on PMP hubs from wheelsmith at £7340
-
I know where you can get a set of barely used current model 606 tubs (404 front, 808 rear) for 1100 quid.0
-
Is that a great deal? whats the normal price.... where are they then? have you got them? Shimano or Campag?0
-
Shimano.
Normal price is £1750.0 -
Off the top of your head do you know best prices for 404 tubs then? Im not sure an 808 rear will get much use... I'd probably prefer the idea of having a 404 rear ya see for hillies and that... hmmmm.0
-
An 808 is more aero and only a tiny bit heavier.
Here for the tubs but they are the older model with the hubs of ill repute.

Jesus, where do you buy your wheels? You can get them a lot cheaper than that.
That is the retail price.
Show me where you can get brand new in stock 2010 shimano 808 rear, 404 front tubs for a lot cheaper?
10 -15% yes but not a lot.0 -
15% of £1750 is a lot to me.0
