Just completed my first bike commute today after fetting a bike through the R2W scheme - first proper cycle in about 20 years
It's only about 5 miles each way, but i guess you have to start somewhere.
Just one question - do hills ever get easier? I thought I was going to explode going up Crystal Palace Hill.

Made it though :D

Yes hills get easier, although you'll go up them faster so possibly feel just as tired when you get to the top.

Crystal Palace hill is quite a tough one to have on your commute though.

Chapeau, I'm told hills get easier. They get harder first though...

Hills are a method of getting the impurities out of your body, and bringing fitness. Learn to love them, not loath them. They hurt, oh they hurt, but are soooo good for you.

I may well do the Tak Me Doon Road on Sunday, but going up!
