Rear mech mounting problem!

First post here so be kind, checked through manuals & FAQ's but can't find my answer anywhere, problem is........ After a good few years away from Mountain Biking decided I missed it so set about buiding myself a new bike, got my frame an MSC Lunatika, from my brother (broke student needed the cash) un-used (has no manual & the website has no real help sections) & rear mech a Shimano Saint M810, problem is I can't get the deraileur to track close enough to the cassette (a 9speed Shimano hg80 11-28t) ,manual says 5-6mm mine sits about 20mm away! tried some other mechs I have laying around a shimano alivio & an XT years & exact models unknown and same problem! I've taken some pics & measured from the hub centre to the centre of the mount & thats 35mm but don't have anything for comparison I've been through the mech manual & set it up as far as possible (top & bottom stops) but just can't get it any closer! Hopefully I'm just being a simpleton, but its got me beat! Only thing I can think of is to make a new rear hanger moving the little stop tab 2-3mm further forward, which gives the right tracking position but that seems a little extreme & I'm not sure how that would affect the deraileurs function?? must be a simple solution??? Any help or ideas??? Advanced thanks (hopefully pics below taken on phone so not great)

so have you fitted the chain yet?

    size it and fit it.

you have removed the mode converter?

and then adjust the B screw.

Thanks for the uber quick responces
Haven't fitted the chain yet (missing my bb) but the deraileur has no more movement so can't see how the chain will make any difference, mode converter is out & b screw is adjusted on the smallest chainring then from the small & large sprockets according to the manual. bike in question....

so what happens if you reposition the wheel?

    does it get closer?
    can the hanger be repositioned?

it is one of the issues of running gears on a slot drop out.

Have fiddled with the wheel & hanger position. The wheels as far forward as it goes & moving it back only lengthens the distance! The hanger has 3 positions & at the moment its set back as far as possible which brings the deraileur as close to the cassette as possible! The frame comes with a hanger as standard so you'd asume it would work else what would the point be??!! from what I can make out at some point you could buy this frame built up with a 9speed cassette, but can't really find much info. on it!! pic of the adjustment for hanger....

well i would say that the hanger needs to go forward.

but until you have the chain on it is pointless discussing it further.

there is some dimension on the net which i will have a look for.

    Scroll right

and you will see that X needs to be 6-10mm

i would say you have 20-25mm

Thanks for that, couldn't find anything like that when i looked for dimensions. If I go by that I can get X=8mm by shifting the hanger forward this makes suprisingly little diference to distance to the cassette, but on my frame L=34.5mm which, according to that table is between 6.5-8.5mm too far! I'll fit the chain chain as soon as my BB comes, should be tommorrow! & see what happens! Thanks very much for your help so far really do appreciate it :) Any help or ideas between times welcome!

put it as far forward as you can if you are running the axle fully forward.

    build up and set, sorted.

I'll give it a go & post back when I get it built! will the extra distace in the tracking cause me any problems as the chain won't be wrapped as far around the rear sprocket?
