Cheers mate, I was originally gonna get a rootbeer 09 like yours (placed the order and everything), but the shop emailed me the next day saying they actually didn't have any 09 bikes in stock, i'm not the hardest person to convince to upgrade so when they recommended I go for the 2010 model I jumped on it. :P

Cracking bike. Not a fan of the panaracers though. I think the red sidewalls look a bit daft. But if they work...

    What're you joining up as?

Welcome to Bike radar, I'm sure I recognise your name from somewhere! Did you used to post on the CustomPC forums? :)

I did indeed, now living over at bit-tech since the merger. :D

    @Duffer

Hoping to join the regiment, but if they reckon I'll be better somewhere else I wouldn't be too fussed.

Not sure i'll be joining any weekday rides while i'm working unfortunately, after 8 hours on a building site throwing 3m long plasterboards about the last I want to do is go out and ride. :S

Minor upgrade, stock 90mm stem was really quite long for me so when I saw these going on ebay for £50 I jumped on it.

60MM FSA OS115 with carbon faceplate, yum!

Spacers/steerer length are a little out now so need to order some new (carbon mebbe?) ones asap. Will take some proper pics with a decent camera next week when I get my FSA carbon riser bars to complete the front end. :D
  • Very nice, the EX8 is a thing of beauty, not only to look at but on the trails aswell.

Also a custom PC geek here. Didnt use forum much but did used to get mag.

Haha, small world isn't it.

Cant wait till next weekend, hopefully the new stem will give me more control over the front end and stop me putting too much weight on the front wheel when it's not needed. Definitely felt better just sitting on the bike.

Removed the star fangled nut today to install the X-Lite compression headset adjuster and FSA carbon spacers.

Removing the SFN was a hell of a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Used the drill to remove the collar around the top part, knocked the lower part down a couple of mm, whacked the top star on it's side and used a bent coat hanger to yank it out, repeat with bottom part and job was a good'n.

That's a nice looking ride mate, love the satin black. As you said in my thread if it wasn't for the red bits some gold would look good on there :)

    Hi Luke

During your upgrades, did you replace your seatpost clamp? Yours being red and the supplied one is black on both colours of bike.

I have same bike in white (love it as well) and was looking to jazz it up a little, I contacted Trek/Bontrager and they told me this is not something they offer aftersales.

    Cheers

After getting some proper pictures for another forum yesterday I thought I might aswell post them here, seen as I never got around to it earlier (the last ones have all been shoddy incremental upgrades shots):
