Routes around Matlock - Peak District

Hi,
I am going on family holiday for 2 weeks to Darley Moor (just outside Matlock).
Most mornings I will be hoping to get 2 - 3 hrs on bike.
Was looking for suggested routes of 30 - 50 mile loops in this area, both hilly and flatter options.
All suggestions welcome.
Cheers,
Gavin

There's not much in the way of flat around there I'm afraid. If you want a fast 30k loop there's one around Carsington Res that is used for the Carsington Duathlon. If you ride there from Matlock that should make it a reasonable morning ride. Other than that head over towards bakewell and chatsworth house, some nice rides around there.0

a couple to get you started, but really you just need a 1inch map of the peak district or 1in50000 white peak and ride. there arn't really any roads you need to avoid round there.
tall trees restaurant at the garden centre in darley dale has the best food especially scones and cakes in my opinion. Elton has a cafe not always open.crich has a cafe at the tramway corner and at the bakers but I ususally go to the war memorial cafe where they might have made some nice little cakes. In summer there is usually an icecream van at beeley triangle, at leawst at weekend. Ashover has nice pubs. the mill at rowsley has a very good cafe popular with cyclists at weekends. Eyam the plague vilage has a couple of good cake stops in the middle.

Cheers - Thanks for the feedback.
Those routes look good.
it does look as if there are plenty of options for me.
I would have liked to do longer loops - but I am time restricted.0 -
by the way, check out the profiles of those routes before you set off or the wife will be cross when eventually get back.Top left, 'show' 'elevation profile'
You have do a lot of braking downhill and grunting slowly uphill, so 14mph is reasonable average pace even if you are going hard.
if you want a group ride check out alfreton ctc and matlock cycle club sites. Stanley Fearns at the darley dale end of matlock is the cycle shop with links to matlock cc.Raleigh Eclipse, , Dahon Jetstream XP, Raleigh Banana, Dawes super galaxy, Raleigh Clubman
