Coast to coast undercarriage protection

In May I am plan to do a MTB coast to coast but have concerns about saddle sores which I seem to get quite readily.

I ride in Decathlon shorts (£20) on a SDG bel air. I think the saddle suits me well but question the long term comfort of my shorts.

Has anyone got any advice for either padded or very simple baqgy shorts that may protect my posterior.

I intend to take cream which I don't normally use.

Cheers

Do some longer rides to see how you do.

    Use the cream

Buy some expensive shorts. As good value as the Decathlon/DHB etc stuff is, expensive usually means better.

Get more pairs of shorts, so you can change, nothing worse than putting worn shorts on

Personally I can't ride with integrated inner shorts (can't pull them up far enough to get a snug fit), and as a result they move about a bit causing sore a*se syndrome. Try using the two separate, most cycling shorts need to be pulled up fairly high and you can't really do this when they are attached to the outers.
