wireless computer with cadence

hi folks

contemplating getting a wireless cadence speedo for my ride

as the single sensor goes on the chainstay i have reservations regarding
1. chain collision when in small ring and
2 . collection of crud when serious off roading

has anyone got any experience with this set up

I know some of the roadies have problems getting the cadence sensor in the right place as it can depend on chainstay size.
