anyone been up altura course in lake district recently?

hi guys,
going up to whinlatter for a weekend's biking a week tomorrow. Has anyone been up there recently, as i've heard there's still a fair bit of ice up there and conditions aren't great?
Also, what's the difficulty like? We're fairly adventurous riders, but mainly do XC rather than trail centres - only done Cannock Chase of those. :x
