I'm sorry but what a joke, they're making this out to be some sort of challenge - I'm pretty sure alot of people on here do more cycling commuting Monday to Firday then the 7 of them are doing in 4 days.

1000 miles between 7 over 4 days is not a challenge.

I'm all for raising money for sports relief but at least something like Dayglo or the Blue Peter girl who kayaked the Amazon.

Yeah I know its not much for us lot but hey, they are celebrities that don't cycle so a challenge for them.

They really should have trained though then they could have really proved people wrong, instead of just fannying around!!

I would have killed to do that, imagine getting like 7 SCR's on the case!!!

Yea was just thinking they had some nice kit - why do they keep blurring out the makes of someone the bikes?

I guess maybe Dolan have sponsored the ride and the pace-makers are using their own bikes.

I think we could have tried 1000 miles in 80 hrs non stop each, now that would be fun!

Watching it now, mmmmm not really hard work but still if it raises money for a good cause and perhaps shows the general public that normal people (non of you lot) cycle as well, well that must be good.

In 2007 (I think), when the Boardman bikes were first launched, I remember Boardman having to cover up the decals on his bike when he'd do his commentary bit on the approach to the finish. He got away with it on the first day.

OK, cycle nazis, hold on a second here.

While a hardened tourer or regular cyclist may not struggle with this, all these guys freely admit that they haven't been on a bike in years, and vary from completely unfit to quite unfit.

While ITB could probably do it at a 50mph average in about 15 minutes, and the rest of you wouldn't be far behind, these guys are clearly struggling. I think it's good, they're raising money for charity, they're promoting cycling, and they're doing something. I agree, Eddie's marathons are amazing, and Dallaglio's thing is fantastic, but if celebrities everyone's heard of are promoting cycling that's great in my book. It's charity, it's not a competition.

What have you done for sport relief? Well?

Yeah, I was just having a look on Italian Solutions and Formby Cycles and the only one that looked similar was the touring frame, but the down tube doesn't look thick enough.

I must admit that watching it that some of them are clearly struggling and I don't think anyone has anything against them raising money for a very worthy cause. So maybe I was a little hasty in my original thoughts.

Also I'm getting quite jealous watching it - the ride looks fabulous!

  • Well said LIT. Some of us may be able to cycle half way round the world on half a Mars bar but the point is this lot can't. Cheesy charity maybe but good luck to them. Just want to see Davina's bum in Lycra personally!

There was a couple of Scottish "celebs" that cayaked the Caledonian Canal. They slept in tents and had to walk some sections that had frozen over :?
