crank upgrades?

i have a scott scale with the truvativ bb and firex crankset. i know i have to keep the same bb but can i change to different cranks such as xt,xtr or am i stuck to using truvativ cranks?thanks for the help.

i thought i had to keep the same bb.so you can swop over to the shimano then?is this a straight swop.?0

the BB shell is a standard.
