seized time pedal
ok, heres the situation.
my left hand time pedal seems to have seized in the crank arm. left hand pedal turns clockwise to remove, right?
i've tried penetrating oil, no joy.
stood the pedal and base of crank arm in a pan of boiling water and i still couldn't free it.
in fact i've taken the edges off my allen key its in that tight. i've used a seatpost on the allen key for extra leverage.
i don't want to vice the crank arm or put a blow torch on it as its a 6 month old grey ultegra hollowtech and i don't want to damage it.
can anyone suggest any other remedies? it doesn't matter if the pedal gets wrecked as the right hand one snapped on saturday when clicking in and i've bought some new ones to replace.

Impact works better on seized things than constant pressure - have you tried applying some sharp hits with a decent sized hammer through the allen key?0

RH pedal is conventional RH thread. I have a similar problem and even with a 6mm hex bit in a 2 foot long wrench, it still won't budge - I can see the hardened steel bit twisting nicely. Give it a good soak in penetrating oil, clamp it firmly in a bench vice and give it a good strong heave - your LBS probably has some 'heavy metal' ideally suited to the task if you don't.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

hurrah, the lbs got it out!
took them an hour and two bent allen keys but they did it. charged me a tenner for labour which i thought was reasonable.
the pedal had no washer and had cut into the alloy of the crank arm.
now when i reassemble which grease am i best to use to make it easier to remove in the future? i own copper grease and normal grease but lithium also gets mentioned in forums regularly.0 -
This thread has just reminded me to hunt out a pritt-stick tube of copper grease to use on my newly fitted B-54s and beartraps...================
