Hub brake pads with asbestos

I serviced one of my xfd hubs today, cleaned all the dust out, sanded the pads to removed any glazing. Of course, these pads are what looks like rubber with metal fragments in but i've seen it mentioned that antique/vintage hubs may have asbestos pads and so if anyone has info that would be very useful for people to be aware of.
