I've been having a few problems lately with Sky + (the HD box version) failing to record. It seems to be affecting Eurosport mainly and I've had it fail 4 times on the trot even when I pressed record while the programme was on. I've got loads of space available still, about 75%, so that isn't an issue. Has anyone else had a similar problem? :?

Mine sometimes freezes if it gets too warm. Unplugging it and restarting seems to solve the problem

Not the best news but this happened to me as well, with Eurosport initially but eventually if I tried to record one channel and watch another the whole system froze.

The eventual solution was a new box......sorry.

Have you tried a system reset?

The one from the menu is okay, but the front panel reset seems better.

Power off the box at the mains, then power back on holding down the left and right arrow buttons on the top of the box. The blue light ring will start to turn backwards (it takes afew seconds, and hold down buttons until it does. This apparently defrags the HDD.

After that, power off box at mains again, then power on holding the backup button until all the front panel lights light up, you should get an onscreen message to say it is reloading the system software.

You will lose all recordings and any planned program recordings when you do this.
    Complicating matters since 1965

I had a similar problem that resulted in a replacement dish.

It could be something to do with the connections in the back of the box - both need to be good in order to watch one programme while recording another.

There's a way you can check the signal strength for both inputs through the system settings. Can't remember how, but I found out from a quick bit of Googling.
    More problems but still living....

Been having this problem for a while, but have a few more bits I need to get off the hard drive and onto DVD before trying the system reset. I've looked about on the internet, and this seems to be a common problem. Apparently, if you get Sky to come out and look at it, they'll charge you £65 and then just do the reset that DaSy described.

Ours seems to have settled down a bit of late and will generally work if the box is on standby. It steadfastly will not record if you're watching something else, though, and pressing the record button while watching the programme in question will not work. It's bloody annoying, thank God Fringe gets repeated!

Thanks all, does the system re-set ditch anything you have saved using the keep option? If so I'll need to somehow save that stuff first (I don't have a DVD recorder other than on my laptop).

Yes, it will wipe all your recordings. I don't know any other way to save them than recording them to DVD, but I expect someone else will...

SKY HD = Shit. I've had 4 boxes in 4 years and the latest one's on the blink now. Sounds like your HDD is crapping out.
