Looking at this as a replacement for a 5 year old Ultegra standard chainset. I've not used anything but Shimano in the past so wondered what people's opinions were?

I dont want to spend a fortune when the rest of the groupset is also older anyway, and I dont want to invest more in this older bike right now. I just want decent shifting, no significant weight penalty versus the current old Ultegra, and the benefits of a 50/34 which it obviously gives. Its spec'd on the Bianchi Infinito Veloce...and its a rather lovely gloss black that matches my bike perfectly as well of course

The one that came on my 08 Spesh Roubaix was OK, shifted fine and never had issues with the BB either. Just replaced it with an Ultegra SL (rather than replace the rings) and can't say I can feel any difference (shifting or stiffness), it looks better though ;)

    They work great for me.
I've got the Team Issue though so the cranks are carbon fiber skinned.
    Looks blingier...

I've got one on my commuter bike.

I'd stick to Shimano if I were you.

I have one. Mine came with good rings and is compatible with Shimano BBs.
