New BMC Team Machine SLR01 - Looks?

Saw one of these in the bike shop the other day and it was causing quite a bit of comment. Was pretty evenly split down the middle with people that thought it looked gopping and those that liked it.

I was thinking about getting one of their more reasonably priced bikes for this summer but I'm still not 100% sure about the styling. Can decide if they look awesome or just mutton dressed as lamb... What do you think?

Up close it's fantastic. The carbon weave is very tight and the lines are so neat they stand out from other brands.

I favor the white over the red, built up with all black wheels and components it's sleek.

I like everything about it... apart from those seatstays.

Don't like the seatstays not meeting the top tube - makes the bike look asymmetrical from the side.

It's a moose - trying too hard to be different. Interesting but not pretty!

Love the BMC, but I'm a big fan. Have just picked up a BMC Team Machine SLT 01 with Sram force from Competitive Cycles for almost half price. Very impressive bike, and i must admit I prefer the looks of the SLT to the SLR

+2, but I do still like it.
  • I like it.

Compact seat stays make sense from a weight saving & aerodynamic perspective. It would be interesting to know what effect they have on torsional rigidity and ride quality.

Less keen on the gusset between seat & top tubes. I would prefer a buttressed top tube at the join.
