What do you expect, its the Daily Telegraph. Mind you if it had been the Daily Mail they'd be claiming Middle Age begins at 25!

By Christ I hate Harleys, Southpark got it right re Harley riders :wink: . If Im going to be carrying a few extra pounds and wrapped in tight leather (as if lycra isnt bad enough) it will be astride a Ducati 1198. If Im going to have a crisis Im doing in style 8) .

All that outrage is bad for your health.

    Reduces your life expectancy.

    Obviously...

I bloody love Harleys. Not the new versions though, the old chop style Harleys are cracking. I'd have one of those hands down. Or a Triumph.

You're only as old as you feel! Too true. I'm 41 and feel great, especially since I've taken up cycling again! It makes me feel younger, apart from when my wife laughs at me in lycra! (that's not even when I'm on the bike  )

I work as a staff nurse in a busy A&E dept and I see many people old and young alike coming through the doors that do not look their age, either looking way to old for their age or fantastic for their age. had a 92 year on Monday that walked into the dept with a broken scaphoid, she was unbelievable for her age. She looked as fit as fiddle and was a sharp as a tack. Yet the same day looked after a chap that was having an MI aged 39!

I am sure it said somewhere that cycling keeps you looking young
So even with my 3* years I can't be looking too bad! 8) And a girl has to do what a girl has to do-So ride like crazy it is!

This line: "The news that 58 is "over the hill" may come as a surprise to anyone who has passed the milestone and feels they are not yet in the twilight of their lives"

What's the average life exxpectancy - it's about 70 isn't it? So after 58 you have probably expectation of less than 12 years. I'd say that was twilight and to think anything else is sheer delusion.

Can anyone recommend what lights to use in the twilight years? I may need to get some soon.

For someone of 58 life expectancy is about another 25 years - so on the home stretch but not about to keel over.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

I laugh at Jake when he's in lycra, compulsory you know.

The irony of it is the first time I met him he was in the lycra

Surely they would be claiming Middle Age can be blamed on the Middle East (same first name) and Islam and asylum seekers and single mums other very un-British stuff......

Woohoo, at 37 I can now have a mid life crisis. Would explain my sudden interest in young Lost in Thought and splashing out far too much money on a carbon bike.

I had a bit of a mid life crisis when i reached 22. Since then I've been pretty much OK - but I think I might be heading into one now though I'm not sure. How can you tell if you're not into motorbikes, fast cars or getting off with girls half your age?

    *confused*

LIFE BEGINS at 40, doesn't it??

I confess that until I was 40, my kids and a decent career were signs I'd done something, but I can't say I had been hugely happy for a lot of it.

Met my partner at 41 and haven't looked back since. Life still throws a lot of sh*t at me, but at least I have a life I am content with and someone who makes me really happy around. Am sure it was maturity, the confidence that comes with experience and the serenity of knowing I've survived thus far that enabled me to 'start over' when I was obviously well into middle age!!

The cycling brought us together and it's still a passion for us both...

If you aren't into at least one of those you aren't having a mid life crisis

But I think mine is manifesting through my cycling - I've done more cycling in the past 10 months than in the rest of my life put together....or is that just SCS?

And I am getting panic attacks when I try to work out how much time I've got left to do everything I want to do before I die.

last year I spent nearly *hmmmf* quid getting my hair cut and coloured so that I looked younger.

I've become very interested in women 2/3 of age.

Thin end of the wedge I reckon. :? it'll be the gym next...
