Creaking Pedals

Hi

New bike and new Look Keo Max pedals - done a maximum of 300 miles. Yesterday When putting my foot down (pulling away from traffic lights/junctions etc) the pedals started creaking but were fine when pedalling as normal.

Is this normal or any simple remedy - cleats, crank and pedals all seemed tight enough or do I need to dig out my reciept?

You know, before I even clicked on your full post I knew what make of pedals you have just from the subject line!

I've got the same and get infuriated with the creaking, particularly when climbing out of the saddle.

I've been looking on other threads elsewhere and one tip is to use talcum powder on the pedals - supposedly stops it for a few hundred miles. I've yet to try it myself though.

A thin layer of WD40 on your cleats should cure your problem. Also, make sure it's your pedals. I had a creak I thought was coming from mine, when under pressure, but it turned out that the front hub was not tight enough.

Mine are doing the exact same (white keo 2 max's). I think I'll try the wd-40 fix, spray carefully!

Maybe take the black rubber 'stopper' out of the cleat if that doesn't help?

I have noticed a similar sound in the past few days. I had a problem with bearings in the crank, which was pushing the chain/derailleur off and making it drop the chain. I took it to the store and got it fixed. All seems ok.

But I have just noticed a creaking, and I wasn't sure if it was coming from the pedal, gearset, or the crank. I only notice it when I'm pushing really hard, or every time I get out of the saddle. So I'm hoping it is just the pedals, which I will try to spray with some lube or wd40.

I had the same with my Look Keo's. I used a small smear of white teflon grease. It seems to have done the trick

Yep Keo's squeak but I find they stop after a bit, once the cleat is worn a tad
