Jockey wheels - I need new ones but don't know what type

Ok, my rear mech is a Deore LX long cage. I know this because it has a long cage and it says "Deore LX" on it. Also the bike specs for my bike (2008 Tricross Sport) say "Deore LX" for the rear mech section.

So what's the problem?

When I go to Shimano's website and look at the Deore LX rear mech it looks nothing like my one.... But if I look at the normal Deore (not LX) rear mech it looks almost identical to my one.

However my mech definitely says Deore LX on it.

I need to buy new jockey wheels because mine are almost completely worn now but I'm not sure which ones will fit. I thought maybe Shimano just used a few different types but it seems that they do actually have different jockey wheels for pretty much every tier of mech, annoyingly.

How can I find out exactly what I need to buy?

you need one G pulley one (top) and one other one (bottom). they are basically the same all through the range.

    just order some.

yes shimano does update there site every year as they change the parts.

Ok, so take a quick look at this page:
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... odelID=885

There are several options there that might apply to me:
    • Deore 9sp M530 Pair
    • LX 9sp M570/571/571/5500/750 Top / Bottom
    • LX/Hone 9sp M580/M600 Top / Bottom
Will all of those fit my mech ok?

Which ones should I go for, do you think?

TBH any. but the Alivio are too big.

we just buy a bag of each and fit them to any shimano mech ( but not the early ones).

so which would i get. the LX at 2,99 one of each. works out cheaper than the set at 7,99

if you look they list the XT 750 in both the 2,99 and the 8,99/13,99

silly question but here goes.....what difference does it make if they are worn, they're not transferring any of the force and are just there as essentially idlers to extend the chain down.

when worn the chain is not located correctly and can cause poor shifting.

also the chain can ride off them and case problems.

    like.

    extreme but.

Not that it probably makes much difference but I replaced mine with BBB ones. They cost a fairly similar amount as the standard ones but have proper bearings. My originals seem to have partly seized on the bearing surface and where spinning on the jockey wheels themselves.
