Fit some cheap slick tyres for a bit of extra speed and you will be fine

Your only problem will be the wind it always blows a hoolie straight into your face from Preston to Blackpool

It's a great ride and there are thousands of people doing it - all levels and all sorts of bikes.

(I did it on a road bike and rode both ways).

You can do it on your HT - just ride at your own pace!

    Thanks Pokerface and stubs

Pokerface whats the route like they take is it very hilly or flat ect.

    Cheers J
  • I did it last year on a fixed gear. Lots of people were like 'is that a fixie? jesus, good luck mate!' but I made it (took me about 5 and a half hours though including stops for punctures and food etc).

Brilliant day out though, lots of spectators in places, fairly flat route too (one very tough hill coming out of Haigh Hall that I passed lots of road bike riders pushing their bikes up, I was almost screaming at the top!).

It IS very windy once you get near the coast though, and the roads through St Annes arent the smoothest, so with the wind and the rough roads those last few miles are a killer!

Ill be doing it again this year on my new Orange G2, might aim for 4 hours (yeah right)!

Go for it though mate, you will be amazed at what you can do if you put your mind to it!
