Glentress - breaking the hour to the transmitter?

The snow/ice is almost away - and I can't wait to head to Glentress.

I was just wondering what the record time is from the hub carpark, up the black route to the transmitter?

When I head up there I try to break the hour, but can't seem to better 65 mins - and I find that quite hard work!

Anyone know of any ridiculously fast times up there? has anyone got up there in 45mins??

...now that the Glentress snow's away and it's getting busy again I thought I'd bump this post back...

Managed to crack the hour from Hub to Transmitter a couple of weeks ago, and wondered if there are any challengers out there!?

...coincidentally, it was a similar time to my Alpe D'Huez time (on the roadbike), chalk and cheese, but I figure that they're similar physical efforts, so anyone know of super fast GT times? (as the right side of an hour for AdH is the benchmark for club riders apparently)

AdH and GT black run to the transmitter similar in physical effort? Seriously? I would have thought AdH would have been WAY tougher? I've never ridden AdH, so I can't compare - just an initial thought.

Ayway, I've never timed myself to the transmitter, but I usually bimble round the black route in around 3 hours-ish. Did it in 2hrs 50 mins last weekend, but it was toasty, roasty hot and I did a bit of sunbathing at the shelter, just before the Britney Spears run!

I'll make a point in timing myself to the transmitter next time though, just to compare (probably this weekend actually).

STW is full of people who'll tell you they can knock out the black in a couple of hours then nip along to innerleithen and do that too, and go back up for a couple more goes at caddon bank... Takes me about an hour to get out of the cafe.

Fair point there Broonster, it's impossible to compare like for like, there's not the same height gain for starters, but I think they're similar in terms of sustained effort if you're gunning it in 'a one-er'.

Obviously, best style is no rest until the transmitter! (not even the shelter before Britney Spears or the middle of the Goat Track)

You get some downs/rests on the black 'climb' to recover but the rocky terrain is much tougher than smooth alpine asphalt with 100psi slicks!

So I think they're compariable efforts (with AdH being a little tougher) You get into a good rhythm on AdH which is an advantage, and there are some truely steep bits on the Goat Track which sap the legs.
Beating the hour on AdH is very common, so guessed there'd be some fast Black times at GT.
Have a good one at the w/e!

...bump this up again, and to bring it into the 21st century...

Managed 53 mins on my own the other night (and it could go faster), but after speaking to a friendly guy in the carpark afterwards, hear that on Strava.com, there's a guy from Glasgow who holds the record at 45 mins - that's incredible!

...anyone fancy a race up there one night to attempt to break the 45 min mark?
