I currently use Fizik bar tape which came with bar gel pads in the same pack, but i am looking to buy some replacement handlebar tape and i want to order the same Fizik bar tape that i am currently using, i have seen two Fizik type tapes, the Micro Tex tape and another one which i don't know its name but it appears to have a shiny finish, any one here know what the difference in these two tapes are? and which tape comes in the pack i am using?

    Update:
The two bar tapes that Fizik make are Micro Tex and Micro Tex soft touch, which one of them is the thickest?

I think that a google search will show that Fizik make more than two varieties of tape.
The two that you mention are basically the same, apart from their finish...

  • These guys are the official UK distributor and they only list 2 versions:

Don't really give too much detail though!

A bit OT, but I've found:

Micro Tex - reliable, strong, harder to wrap without getting creases in the tape, particularly around compact bars, can be adjusted whilst wrapping and post-wrapping (i.e. next day) quite easily

Micro Tex soft touch - easier to wrap around tighter bends but cannot easily be readjusted unless done immediately (tears quite easily), a little grippier to hold, absorbs a bit of moisture in the rain

My apologies, I thought the 'Dual' tape was different, but it's only diifferent colours.
I think they're both the same, just a different finish to them.

The dual stuff is thicker, more padded.

The dual tape is thicker and, my LBS told me, a bit of a b*tch to wind on the bars because it's that little bit thicker and it has a coloured line on it that you need to align carefully to ensure it looks good.

It's comfortable, but I don't know how it compares to the Microtex stuff with the gel pads underneath.
