It's an older frame, not the fancy new one. I bought it from a guy in London for £400 with a Push tuned RP3, and a DHX5 with a titanium spring...... Thanks very much mr!!
Pace fighters, Shimano SLX, XT chainset, Hayes El Camino brakes which are crap and need replacing, Mavic 321
It's only been on one ride so far but I loved it, fantastic ride.
Like to thank Nick and Super in the workshop forum for helping get my mech sorted. For some reason the chain rubs along the lower horizontal part of the mech when in the middle ring. If I lower the mech then it doesn;t clear the big ring. If however it's positioned correctly, when I am sat the sag actually helps the chain clear the mech. Not uqite right, but I'm riding which is important.
Check out my NS SOciety on the Pink BIke pages too

Oh, any advice on suitable brakes that I can get at discount price?
I should pick up the mag with the reviews that have been cropping up on the mtb pages recently but all the reviews seem to say that each brake underpreforms in some way. Which actually came out on top in the end?0 -
nice ride mate......very sweet!!
take a little cable tension off using the barrel adjuster, that should help you out a little!
as for brakes......you can't really beat formula, they always get great reviews and i've got a set of Oro K18's on my cube and they're top notch....also the new RX brakes are supposed to be great0 -
get some avid elixir 5s. £135 at merlin. i got them and they are awesme. i'm liking it and also nice choice on the rims, they are great0

I'd like to post a weight for the build but have no way of telling... It's definatly heavier to the rear of the bike. Makes it manual like a beast... not that I can manual like a beast. But with some practise on her.
I'll keep my eye open for some second hand Formula The Ones. I was dissappointed that the fourpot Hayes Stoker Ace didn't rate so well recently as they are cheap at CRC0 -

they get good reviews from other people and me0 -
hey.....hayes make some great brakes.......I've got stroker rydes on my Pipedream and they're excellent stoppers......and at a great price.
Don't take TOO much notice of the reviews as they're all subjective and down to opinion0 -

thanks, but the barrel adjuster will affect the left/right indexing of the mech rather than the up/down bit (predominantly) I should have mentioned it was the front mech it rattles along - the horizontal part of the cage at the bottom not the verticle parts. Almost as if the cage isn't long enough to do both the dinner plate and the granny...
It's not a twin chainset mech.0 -

That's a decent price!
But Avid 5's.... they're just so.... Ford Focus :roll:0 -

If you want more adjustability (external lever reach/pad adjustment) and can stretch to them, go for the CR carbons from Merlin, its nearly £100 more, but they are lighter, and the 'top of the line' Elixirs....... if you are still worried about the 'ford focus' imagery
As they look the dog's proverbials. Would go lovely with your frame
I have them and they are by far the best stoppers Ive used. Very powerful.0 -
£100 more for the pair? or per unit?0

LOL.... in fact you're not far off from the truth.
It hasn't or won't ever get muddy, it only gets taken out on bone dry days, road riding or hitting the local singletrack. I knew this when I built it.
I can't bring myself to purchase a roadbike, so in a sense this gets treated like one.0 -
Gonna opt for some Shim SLX from CRC - £130 for the pair, needs rotors.
Now, a question to the masses, should I gold-ify or magenta-nate the build? Annodised floating rotors and possibly chainrings + lock ons fro superstar. But I can't decide if I should follow the gold on the fork crown.0
