Police Security Marking and Frame Corrosion

The local police are doing one of their regular security marking sessions down my way. I was planning on going along, but someone told me there is a strong chance the mark will compromise a frame's corrosion resistance (mine is a steel frame).

Does anyone have any experience on this?

They are doing it now with some sort of acidic fluid that burns into the frame (don't quote me on that, this is what an officer told me) and i wasn't to happy with that going on my carbon.

I've got my bikes registered with Immobitag (for free too, thanks to a link from a generous soul here), but now something's rattling in my frame and I'm going to have to take the cranks/BB off to find out what it is :x
