I am planning a ride to the Forest of Dean this week, does their centre is the same as Afan and Cwmcarn with arrows on the trails so you wont get lost on the loop or it's an open field?

Most of the downhill trails there are marked at their start point, and the FODCA Trail (red route) is waymarked all the way round, but that's about it. Even the main 'push-up' to the downhills isn't marked, but initially follows the line of some power cables. You can get a bit disorientated when you reach the end of one of the downhills, but you're never too far from that push-up; so once you get your bearings you should be ok. MAP

There's also a shed load of other good stuff in the FoD, away from the cycle centre, but without local knowledge you'll struggle to find it.

I live in the FoD, the first mile of the FODCA red route is disrupted by forest operations, the rest of the route is fine (fully signed), some diversions have been built but they are not obvious or sign posted, I am not a downhiller, but pretty sure the downhill runs are not effected,

Thanks guys for your helpful reply's, I think I will go to Afan instead and will go FOD later on with someone who know the area well.
