Informal riding groups

I am only a year into cycling and at 45 I guess I've come to it a bit late (better this than never though eh?)
Whenever I go out for a training ride I usually see other cyclists who always acknowledge me and yet it's not really the place to have a chat.
So, my question is:
Does anyone know of a forum/website, etc where you can make informal arrangements to go out on a ride now and again?
I live in Bourne in South Lincolnshire, having moved up here a year ago from London.
All advice gratefully received...

Have a look at the local cycling clubs or indeed local cycling campaign groups as the latter often have people willing to go for occassional social as well as training rides. Alternatively you may find a few local cafes where cyclists congregate (often along canal sides etc) where you could get chatting to people and test the water.

You clould also have a look on the CTC site for a local group - social rides are their raison d'etre.A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject - Churchill0 -
Velo Club Rutland is local to you (ish), meet at Oakham council offices every Sunday 9.00am, or Greetham Garden Centre every Saturday at 11am. have a member from Bourne who rides regularly.
Feel free to just pitch up.0 -

The bike place at Grafham Water are quite good for providing links to cycling clubs: They *might* be a bit far south for you, but worth a try, if you're in the area..0
