18km to go, eh. Supposed to be on ES 2 now but there are some hippies being silly on skis. Rugby it is, then.

Yesterday's finish was pretty cool. Here are the last few kms:

Edvald and other top riders were well off the pace.

Di Luca was spectating...maybe trying to curry favour

Probably knew he wasn't going to win a sprint, so tried an attack. When that failed, he might as well keep things going and try to get as many seconds as possible

Astana leading the GC by team. Sky 12th.

Cavendish is 1hr 25mins down on GC...a long way to go to find form.

Last year he was miles down on GC too. Somehow I don't think he's aiming for the blue jersey. We'll see on the final stage if he has a sprint in him.

Sometimes the sign of a classy sprinter is to win when you're not on form but Milan-San Remo is too much to ask. If - big if - the dental problems reside then he'll come up trumps in the Giro. The season's goal is Green.

Serpa crashed pretty hard on the descent although I don't think there was anything serious.

    Gianni Savio was worried.

"Do you have any idea how much that blood costs Jose?"
