Sidi shoes

Pigeons in flight

Hello - posted this in 'workshop' without any response. Probably better trying in here, but I'm not sure what the policy is on duplicate posts?!
Anyway..I've just invested in some Sidi zephyr shoes and am using shimano spd-sl cleats/pedals. The instructions for the shoes talk about a 'reinforcement plate' and there are diagrams to show how you are supposed to cut out the insole and fit this plate. Problem is I dont seem to have such a plate with my shimano cleats. Do I just ignore this and screw in the cleats without the stanley knife process?! (which I would incidently make a right pig's ear of!).
Also...what are the sidi stickers for in the instruction book?! Just to stick on random things??
Thanks

Assuming you're using SPD-SLs, there's no need to attack the inside of your shoes with a Stanley knife - just screw your cleats on as you would with any road shoe. The reinforcing place is for 2-hole SPD cleat mounting where it isn't uncommon to strip the threads and replace the metal insert.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Cheers Monty. Yes, using spd-sls.
Sidi specify their own screws for this which I have duly ordered. Thing is they seem to require a screw driver rather than an allen key which is another tool to carry when out and about. Och well.Never mistake motion for action
