Condor Tempo/Pearson Touche Dilemma

I'll soon be in a postion to take advantage of my employer's cycle2workscheme. I've decided to put the £1,000 voucher towards a fixed wheel winter bike for my daily 25 mile round trip commute to work.

After some research I've narrowed my choice down to just two bikes: Condor Tempo and Pearson Touche. Out of the two bikes I really prefer the Tempo, but here's the problem: I popped into Condor Cycles the other week to view the Tempo and discuss various build options. Although I was hugely impressed by the bike itself I have some reservations now of handing over my £1000 voucher to Condor Cycles because of the poor service I received while I was there. Firstly, the sales guy who showed me the bike was utterly clueless and was quite unable to answer some of the most basic questions about the bike, which was in stark contrast to the guy next to me who was being fitted for a bike and receiving excellent service from a knowledgeable and enthusiastic assistant. Secondly, having viewed the bike I decided to check out some new cycling shoes in the clothing department. The guy there while seemingly competent was rude verging on abusive. I left the shop bemused and indeed a little downhearted.

Contrast this with my contact with Pearson Cycles. Although I've only spoken to them on the phone a couple of times each time I've found them extremely helpful and knowledgeable. If it was based on service alone then I'd definitely be buying the Pearson Touche instead the Tempo. However, the bike I really want is the Tempo.

Is it possible for me to call Condor and ask to be fitted by one of their competent sales staff? And if so, could anyone on here recommend one of the assistants I could ask for in name?

Many thanks in advance.

Can'tspeak for Pearson but my partner got her Tempo from Condor and they were really helpful over the phone. The bike itself? Lovely. Well-made and finished for not mad money. Where's AskBernie when you need him? Still one of the best threads imo

You're right about Pearson - Guy, Will and Matt who run the pro road shop are great. All ride and race so have a wealth of knowledge and are very patient when you go in.

Haven't got the touche myself, but know lots of people that do and no one has a bad word to say about it.

I got a Pearson Hanzo on the C2W scheme. I wasn't able to visit the shop so had to rely on the guys in the shop to help me spec the bike and get the sizing right. They were excellent. I'm very pleased with the bike too and it's a great fit.
  • Thanks for the replies, guys.

Popped into Pearson's yesterday to test ride the Hanzo and Touche. Both excellent bikes with very different ride characteristics. The Touche is perfect for my needs I'll be buying one as soon I as I get my cycle2work scheme voucher. The pictures I'd recently seen of the Touche didn't do the bike justice. The Touche is more than a match for the Tempo in terms of looks and build quality. As for the service I received I have to say that Pearsons could teach Condor a thing or two about customer service.
