Clipless pedal & shoe advice for a newbie

Hello All,
First time poster. I've started to ride a road bike (for the first time in 15 odd years). I'm using the bike to cross-train for running, though would like to enter a novice duathlon later this year.
I'm currently running toe-clips on the single sided pedals I got with my ebay bike, but would like to upgrade to clipless pedals. I also have a mountain bike, still with flat pedals.
For road riding & duathlon I guess I'd be better off with a solid-soled road shoe, but which clipless setup would you recommend. I could go SPD on both bikes, or just keep the MTB as flat and go clipless for the road bike.
Finally it needs to be cheap. I can upgrade later on.
Suggestions please!
Cheers,
Chris

Welcome Chris.
Think double sided spds would be a good choice for both your bikes, you'd only need 1 pair of shoes. I'm sure you could find a bargain on ebay.Pinno, מלך אידיוט וחרא מכונאי0
